Oil prices increased on Monday as both sides in U.S.-China trade talks highlighted their progress over the weekend, boosting market sentiment that the world’s two largest crude consumers may be closer to resolving their trade dispute.

By 0500 GMT, Brent crude futures rose 43 cents, or 0.67%, to $64.34 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures gained 48 cents, or 0.79%, to $61.50 per barrel compared to Friday’s close.
